WINSTON HEIGHTS DEVELOPMENTS

ENERGY DIVISION

As a leading owner, and operator of battery energy storage in the UK, we’re driving the transition to a cleaner, more resilient, and affordable energy future through our renewable energy generation and storage projects.

With the renewable energy revolution rapidly gathering pace, the growing requirement for battery storage to support this transition offers increasingly valuable market opportunities. Investing in, or leasing land to, a battery storage system presents a huge opportunity for green energy developers, investors, and landowners to accelerate risk-free, sustainable revenues that support Britain’s zero carbon ambition

WHAT ARE BESS SITES?

Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites in the UK are facilities that store electricity using large-scale batteries, typically lithium-ion. These sites are designed to charge when there is excess electricity on the grid and discharge when there is higher demand. A typical BESS site includes battery containers, inverters, transformers, and control systems, all managed to ensure smooth operation.

BESS sites are usually located near renewable energy sources like wind and solar farms or close to substations. Their main function is to manage energy flow on the grid by temporarily holding electricity and releasing it when needed. As part of the UK’s evolving energy infrastructure, BESS sites are being developed across the country to support a more flexible and responsive power network.

By Developing your land for energy storage, you can:

Contribute to the UK’s journey toward net-zero emissions

Take meaningful action against climate change

Maximise your land’s value through sustainable development

THE PROCESS

1

Site Feasibility Assessment

We begin with an initial feasibility assessment of the site. This involves completing a site screening evaluation, assessing the access to the site. Along with defining whether connection to the grid is possible.

2

Commerical Negotiation

If the site assessment is positive and you wish to proceed, we will negotiate and agree on the commericals with you.

3

Application Phase

After commericals are finalised, we will undertake detailed project design work and submit the planning application.

4

Site Development

Once planning permission is approved and grid connection is secured, the site can move onto the development phase.
